Pájaro bicolor (amarillo y negro) extremadamente llamativo. Toma en cuenta su puntiaguda cresta negra. Los machos tienen ceja y bigotera amarillas; las hembras, bigotera y ceja blancas, y mejillas y pecho grisáceos. Está presente en bosques abiertos, evitando pastizales y hábitats modificados por el hombre. Busca alimento en el suelo en parejas o en grupos familiares. Tiene un canto melódico, una serie de silbidos variables: "güir-güit-chu güir-güit-chu tuit güit-chu tuit güit-chu tit". Ahora es muy raro debido a que es capturado ilegalmente para ser comercializado como mascota.

A striking bicolored bird (yellow and black). Note its pointed black crest. Males have a yellow eyebrow and mustache; females have a white mustache and eyebrow, and grayish cheeks and breast. It inhabits open woodlands, avoiding grasslands and human-modified habitats. It forages on the ground in pairs or family groups. Its song is melodious, a series of variable whistles: "güir-güit-chu güir-güit-chu tuit güit-chu tuit güit-chu tit." It is now very rare due to illegal capture for the pet trade.
